Deanna Nguyen is truly honored to serve the community as Miss Wichita Asian Festival 2019. In her year of service, she will actively work to promote the 40th Annual Wichita Asian Festival, as well as work towards inspiring cultural advocacy within Wichita’s diverse community of Asian-Americans. With her platform, Deanna seeks to empower others so that they may embrace culturally-focused leadership, engagement, and development in all aspects of their lives.
As a recent graduate of Wichita State University, Deanna graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Health Science and a minor in Sociology. Her academic standing allowed her to be amongst the top 20% of her graduating class, officially inducting her into the Alpha Eta honor society (Allied Health Professionals) through WSU faculty nomination. In 2020, she will begin her first year in the nursing program at Wichita State. She aspires to eventually become a family nurse practitioner that exemplifies healthcare advocacy for underprivileged communities.
For three years, Deanna was a part of the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) at Wichita State University. In order to share the beauty of her Vietnamese roots with the community, she actively performed as a member of VSA’s Cultural Dance Team. Currently, Deanna dedicates her time towards the Wichita Asian Association, Miss Vietnam Wichita Organization, HEALTH Student Association, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Aside from community involvement, some of her big joys in life include exploring the world of other cultures through travel, art, fashion, and food!
